A young man is sitting down.
Voices emanate from his half-open lips.
His body is a place of passage.
A carnal raft in which the text is embodied.
This is a children's story.
A story of play and innocence.
Of violence and misunderstanding.
KID #1 is the first part of a cycle about childhood and tells the story of the abrupt transition from the primary school playground, where children play, run and twirl, to the secondary school playground, where bodies stop playing, look at each other and bully each other. It's a journey, from these bodies that are codified to the naivety of our childlike souls.
This new work by choreographer Joachim Maudet is a continuation of his research into the relationship and dissociation between body and voice: voices distinct from bodies, autonomous and independent entities in dialogue and intermingling with physical movement.
After working on the dissociation of body and sound in the duet ‘sto:riz, automatic speech in the solo GIGI and writing a text for three bodies in the trio W̶E̶L̶COME, the desire here is for a narrative one-man show with several voices, a kind of group piece in a single body.

Originally from Brittany, Joachim Maudet studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) from 2007 to 2012. Alongside his training, he studied theatrical performance art at the University of Paris VIII, then choreographic performance art, graduating in 2010.
He began his career as a performer before completing his training, working with Tatiana Julien on La Mort et l'Extase and with Arthur Perole on Divine Hérésie.
Enriched by his training and curious to discover other horizons, he went abroad, where he danced for the Akram Khan Dance Company (UK), the Noord Nederlandse Dans (Holland) and the National Dance Company Wales (UK).
He returned to France in May 2013 and began collaborating with a number of choreographers, including Samuel Faccioli and Bérengère Fournier (La Vouivre) on the young audience project La Belle et Feu, Christian Ubl (Cie CUBe) on the project Shake It Out, Léa Tirabasso on the project The Ephemeral Life of an Octopus, Arthur Perole on the projects Rock'n Chair, Ballroom and the BBB, Léonard Rainis and Katell Hartereau (Le pôle) on Every Little Movement, Dance with dinosaurs, The perfect moment, The WALL and Ambra Senatore on Partita. He is also assistant and external viewer on the projects Scappare by Mathilde Bonicel and Magdalena by Chloé Zamboni.
Alongside his career as a performer, Joachim Maudet created the company Les Vagues in 2017 with a desire to work on the relationship and dissociation of body and voice. His first piece, ˈstɔːriz saw the light of day in 2019. He then created the solo GIGI in 2021 and the trio WELCOME in 2022. KID#1 is his fourth piece and opens a cycle of work on childhood.ps.
