"Feux Follets" is a performance reading combining a text written by Camille Desombre and music composed by Yoann Hourcade. The text is inspired by Camille’s eponymous short novel published in Sabir #5: FUTUR; it is an anticipatory fable, a manifesto, and an eco-queer resistance story, describing with poetic and campy humor the daily life of a futuristic queer community. The piece takes the form of a narrative tale read by two voices, blended with sound and music, creating a welcoming immersive atmosphere.
Author and documentarist, Camille Desombre has collaborated for years with VICE et Tracks (ARTE). His main publications include: Pédé·s dans la peau in the collection Pédés (éditions Points, 2023), Feux Follets (Sabir vol. 5, 2023), the radio documentary Alain Pacadis, poète gonzo et dandy punk (2023), and the France Culture radio series Pédé·s : réinventer le monde (2024).
Dancer and choreographer Yoann Hourcade works for various companies (Tatiana Julien, Christian Ubl, Claire Jenny). In 2017 he founded the company Blandine for dance and performance creations, notably the quartet Supernova.
After training in computer music creation, Camille and Yoann started their performance reading project. Their first piece, Spectrophilia, was presented at DOC! (Sturmfrei festival 2023) and at Beursschouwburg (Homografia 2024). Feux Follets is their second creation.
This piece was written during a residency at the IN/OUT cabin-instrument at La Station – Gare des Mines in April 2024 and at the Maison Poème (Brussels) in June 2024.
